Who we are
Ioan R. Homone, P.E.
Ioan (John) has over 20 years of experience in leading the structural engineering design efforts for complex new buildings and renovation projects, including those that require adaptive re-use of historic structures and construction in occupied facilities. He manages the structural engineers and drafters and oversees all aspects of project – schematic design, construction documents and construction administration.
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Polytechnic University of Timisoara, Romania. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of New York. He is an ICC certified structural steel bolting and welding inspector. He is an active member in Structural Engineers Association of New York – SEAoNY, International Code Council – ICC, American Concrete Institute – ACI and American Society of Civil Engineers – ASCE.
When not at his desk, he is either taking a class at the local boxing gym, skiing or watching a Formula 1 race.

Communication
We truly believe that communication is the main key to a successful project. Close communication with the client and the rest of the design team from the early stages of design is essential in selecting the adequate structural framing option. Ongoing communication and coordination throughout the preparation of drawings is essential to avoid conflicts. A clear and carefully detailed set of structural drawings is important to ensure that the Contractor fully understands the extent and scope of the work presented. It is our philosophy that an additional section, detail or elevation will provide the answers the Contractor is looking for. Lastly, our office is keeping an open-minded attitude towards requests and suggestions from contractors.
Reliability
“How fast can you turnaround this project for us?” This is the most frequent question we are being asked – and rightfully so. It is imperative in today's market to provide the services requested in the shortest time possible, without compromising on quality. Our company identifies the underlying simplicity of complex problems to design the most efficient and effective system to meet project schedule.
Innovation
"If you are not moving forward, then it means you are moving backwards". Being able to constantly stay in touch with the latest developments of building codes and construction techniques allows us to select the appropriate structural systems for each project. In many cases, to be within the projected budget, or to accommodate specific schedule or other project parameters requires an innovative approach to the structural design.
